One dead, one injured after shooting in Northwest Reading

One person is dead and another injured following a shooting that happened around 6pm Sunday, August 21, 2022, in the 300 block of McKnight Street. This is the second time in less than a week that the Reading Police Department has investigated a shooting at the same location.

This incident resulted in the death of Josmar Ceballos, a 28-year-old male. Additionally, a 49-year-old male was also injured.

Police were called to the area for a male who was reportedly shot. Investigators say when officers arrived on-scene, they located Ceballos deceased in the block. The other male was transported to Reading Hospital prior to Police arrival, where he was treated. Police added that both were struck by gunfire.

Nearly a dozen evidence markers could be seen throughout the crime scene. A nearby home was also hit by gunfire. Residents inside were unharmed.

Police say they received reports that two males were seen walking in the area with masks on leading up to the shooting.
