The Reading Police Department Criminal Investigations Division has released details regarding a homicide investigation that unfolded on March 13th, 2024. The incident, which occurred at approximately 10:15 pm in the 900 block of Franklin Street, resulted in the death of an adult male identified as Antonio Carrero.
According to police, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area and upon arrival, discovered Carrero deceased. Further investigation revealed that Carrero had been involved in an altercation with another male, leading to gunfire that ultimately claimed Carrero’s life.
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Jonathan Minier. Law enforcement officials obtained a warrant for Minier’s arrest after the incident. He was apprehended by members of BCERT (Berks County Emergency Response Team) and the Reading Police Department.
Minier now faces charges of homicide and related firearms offenses. He is currently in custody awaiting arraignment as the investigation progresses.
