Suspect arrested in connection with shooting death of security guard in New Morgan

A suspect in the shooting death of Troy Rickenbach was arrested Thursday in York, PA. David Brian Hartsook, 34-years-old of York, PA, was taken into custody by law enforcement in the 500 block of N. West Street, York, PA on May 18, 2023 at approximately 3:20pm. He is pending arraignment in court.

Hartsook has been charged with 1st degree Murder, 3rd degree Murder (F1), Criminal attempt 1st degree murder, Aggravated Assault (F1 and F2), Simple Assault (M2), Persons Not to Possess a Firearm (F1), Firearms Not to be Carried Without a License (F3) and Criminal Trespass (F3).

On Saturday, August 6th, 2022, at approximately 12:10am, Troy Rickenbach and Rafael Yambo were patrolling the area of Quarry Road and Mineview Drive as private security guards due to recent Catalytic Converter thefts in the area.

According to State Police, the pair located a suspicious vehicle on property and attempted to make contact with the operator when shots rang out. They believe the suspects were engaged in stealing catalytic converters.

During the incident, Troy Rickenbach, 37-year-old of West Reading suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the torso. Rafael Yambo, 43-years-old of Reading, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm.
