Unlocked cars become targets in Windsor Township theft spree, residents urged to lock up

A wave of vehicle break-ins has hit the “Edenburg” neighborhood of Windsor Township between the overnight hours of December 8th and 9th, 2023, leaving residents concerned and authorities on the lookout for the elusive culprit.

The unknown suspect targeted an a total of eleven vehicles, victimizing nine individuals within the community. All of the incidents shared a common thread – the vehicles were left unlocked by their owners. In each case, authorities said there were no signs of forced entry, suggesting the suspect took advantage of unlocked doors to unlawfully access the interiors of the vehicles.

Stolen items consisted primarily of loose change, cash, and debit/credit cards, raising concerns about the safety of personal belongings left unattended in vehicles.

A breakthrough in the investigation came with the discovery of video surveillance capturing an unknown suspect breaking into a vehicle in the 500 Block of Raymond Avenue. The unknown suspect was observed wearing a brown hooded coat, a black beanie, black fanny pack, black pants, and black shoes.

State Police is urging residents to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures by securing their vehicles. Authorities at the Hamburg Barracks are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the suspect or providing any information related to the break-ins.
