Seven Downtown Restaurants to Participate in ‘Dining Passport’ Program

Seven Downtown Reading restaurants have joined forces with the Pennsylvania’s Americana Region to create a new Downtown Winter Dining Passport Program.

The collaboration grew in response to the economic toll of COVID-19 on local restaurants and small businesses.

Crystal Seitz, President of Pennsylvania’s Americana Region, worked with downtown restauranteurs on ways the Visitors Bureau could help the eateries increase business. Discussions ensued, and the Downtown Winter Dining Passport was born.

The restaurants participating in the program are Canal Street Pub & Restaurant, Cheers American Bistro, Jimmie Kramer’s The Peanut Bar, Judy’s on Cherry, Saucony Creek at Reading Station, Reading Distilling Guild, and the Ugly Oyster Drafthaus.

All seven locations have passports on hand and are ready and waiting to provide a safe, socially distanced experience for all their guests.

The Dining Passport’s goals are twofold; provide area residents with a prize incentive to eat downtown, and boost revenue for the seven participants.

While diners feast on fantastic meals at some of the area’s favorite locations, they collect stamps on the passports and make their way towards a prize drawing.

Stamps from five of the seven restaurants need to be obtained by February 28, 2021, for the passport to be eligible for the prize drawing. Eight fabulous prizes, including a Grand Prize valued at $1,000, will be awarded in March 2021.
