A 12-year-old boy drowned while swimming at Blue Marsh Lake Saturday, August 19th. The incident occurred around 2pm near the Dry Brooks Day Use Area beach.
According to authorities, the boy was swimming about 40-60 feet out into the water when family lost sight of him.

Rescue crews responded quickly to Blue Marsh Lake and conducted an extensive search of the water. Little more than an hour later, water rescue divers found the boy in about 6 foot of water.
The boy was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
