Firefighters in Muhlenberg Township made quick work of extinguishing a garage fire in the 3800 block of North Alabama Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
Dispatched around 2:30pm, crews arrived on-scene to find a fully involved 2 car garage. Several area fire companies were called in to extinguish the fire, which was placed under control within the hour.
Two residents were taken by ambulance to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
According to Muhlenberg Township Fire Marshal Brian Kissinge, Police arrived first and rescued a resident who was attempting to find pets inside the home. All pets were later found to be safe.
Kissinge added that the fire initially started from outside of the home, traveled up the side and across the roofline.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
