A Virtual Event for the past two years, Threshold Rehabilitation Services, Inc. and Penn State Berks will host the 5th Annual ruOK? 5k & 1.5 Mile Walk in person on the campus of Penn State Berks on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
The race begins at 9am, registration opens at 8:30am. A virtual option is also available for those who prefer that.
The event brings awareness to the Berks County Suicide Prevention Task Force and its ruOK? Campaign.
Money raised during the previous 4 events have funded benches at Gring’s Mill with the ruOK? logo and toll free phone number, and the HOPE Blossoms mural that was dedicated in October of 2021, and located on the back of Threshold’s Mosaic House building. The race logo, below, was designed by Gregory Didyoung, the mural artist, who adapted the HOPE Blossoms image especially for this event.
Also attending to discuss her “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay” platform will be Jenna Martorana, USA’s Miss Berks County 2022.
A graduate student at Kutztown University, Jenna is president of KU’s chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and volunteers with all levels of the organization, and is a member of the Berks County Mental Health Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board.
She will be giving a short talk on her journey with mental illness and her advocacy for mental health supports just before the beginning of the race.
