Bear Spotted near Antietam Lake, Police Warn Not to Approach

Central Berks Regional Police say there have been numerous sightings of a bear in the area of Antietam Lake and the surrounding mountain area.

“Please use extreme caution when walking dogs on the trails” said Central Berks Regional Police on Facebook. “Under no circumstances should you feed, taunt, or otherwise interact with the bear.”

Taking to social media, residents say they saw the bear in the area of Wanner Road and Blankenbiller Road Monday afternoon, and Tuesday afternoon closer to the city on Hill Road.

The bear is not reported to be aggressive.
