The Berks Arts Council will cease operations after 55 years of serving Berks County, the organization announced Monday.

Founded in 1971, the Berks Arts Council said it has worked to enrich the community by supporting artists, connecting residents with cultural experiences, and fostering creativity across Berks County. Over the years, the organization presented and supported numerous performances, exhibitions, educational programs, and community events, including festivals and traditions that have become fixtures in the local arts scene.

“This decision was not made lightly,” Executive Director Tish Davis said. “We are deeply grateful to the artists, volunteers, donors, sponsors, board members, staff, and community partners who have supported our mission over the past 55 years. Their dedication has helped create a lasting impact on the cultural vibrancy of Berks County.”

The organization said that while it is closing its doors, it believes its legacy will continue through the people it has served, the partnerships it has built, and the cultural traditions it helped establish over the past five and a half decades.
