Berks Community Health Center will celebrate National Health Center Week with two Community Day events. These events are free and open to the public. National Health Center Week is August 4-10 and celebrates America’s over 1,400 community health centers.
BCHC’s celebration begins on Tuesday, August 6, with Community Day at Oakbrook (1040 Liggett Ave) from 4-6 PM. On Saturday, August 10 Community Day at 838 Penn St. is 10 AM – 1 PM.
Both events are open to all members of the community and will include bounce houses, a dunk tank and other fun activities for children. There will also be music, refreshments, health screenings, raffle prizes and information tables presented by local community, health, social services and government organizations and representatives. Government representatives will attend both events.
To support BCHC during this important week, a fundraiser is being held on Thursday, August 8th from 11 AM – 9 PM at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Wyomissing. Simply tell Anthony’s you are eating to support BCHC and 20% of your order will be donated back to BCHC.
National Health Center week raises awareness of community health centers. These health centers provide care to over 31.5 million people in the country annually.
Berks Community Health Center operates three locations in Berks County: 838 Penn St., 1040 Liggett Ave., and 1110 Rockland St. BCHC’s mission to improve access and health of the community through delivering coordinated and comprehensive care to all residents of Berks County regardless of their economic status.
BCHC served over 19,000 patients last year and is looking forward to opening new locations and serving more community members in the future. BCHC has a sliding fee scale for those community members who are low income based and accepts all insurances and the uninsured.
