Berks County Parks & Recreation invites nature enthusiasts to February in the Parks

Berks County Parks & Recreation has announced a series of exciting programs throughout February 2024, encouraging residents to embrace the great outdoors and indulge in the beauty of nature and history. As a new feature in 2024, participants can conveniently register for programs online through the newly launched RecDesk account at countyofberks.recdesk.com.

In the upcoming month, the Parks & Recreation department is offering a diverse range of programs, inviting everyone to explore the wonders of the county’s natural treasures.

Snowshoe With Your Sweetheart Celebrate love in nature on Wednesday, February 14, at 6 pm, at the Heritage Center. Grab your loved one for a romantic snowshoe walk down the Union Canal Trail. Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and gather valuable snowshoe tips from Parks staff. The program is FREE, but registration is REQUIRED.

Read with a Ranger: Love Is In The Air On Tuesday, February 20, at 10 am, head to the Heritage Center for an adventure with the Rangers. Kids aged 3-5 are invited to enjoy a themed story, take a walk on the trail, and engage in a craft to become an honorary Junior Ranger. The program is FREE, and registration is suggested.

Maple Sugaring Learn the art of identifying trees, tapping them, and making your own syrup on Saturday, February 24, at 10 am, at Gring’s Mill. Witness the fascinating process of turning sap into syrup and indulge in the sweetness. Admission is $5 per person, with kids under 3 admitted for FREE. Registration is Required.

Full Moon Hike Embark on an enchanting evening walk along the Union Canal Trail under the light of the Full Moon on Saturday, February 24, at 6 pm, at the Heritage Center. The program is FREE, and registration is required.

Homeschool Hour: Maple Sugaring On Tuesday, February 27, from 10-11 am, join Parks staff at Bingaman House to explore sugar maples and tap them for their sweet sap. Admission is $5 per child, and registration is required.
