Berks County to conduct Mosquito Control Operation in Exeter Township and St. Lawrence Borough

The Berks County Conservation District Mosquito-Borne Disease Program has announced a truck-mounted, ultra-low volume (ULV) mosquito control operation scheduled for Tuesday, July 16th. The targeted areas include residential and recreational zones in Exeter Township south of Rt. 422 and the Exeter Happy Landings Park area in St. Lawrence Borough.

This operation is in response to the detection of high populations of adult mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus (WNV) in these communities. The mosquito control work will commence around dusk to maximize effectiveness.

The ULV spray will be administered using AquaDuet, a product designed to provide a quick knockdown and effective control of adult mosquitoes. The application rate will be 1.0 oz/acre or less, adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The Berks County Conservation District, holding business license BU 1391, will conduct the spraying, with the applicator licensed under #714783 on-site for the operation.

Residents are advised that weather conditions or other unforeseen events may delay or cancel the spraying. In such cases, the operation will be rescheduled for Wednesday, July 17th.

For additional information or any concerns, residents can contact the Berks County Conservation District at (610) 372-4657 ext. 216.
