Northeast Reading welcomed a new haven for pet lovers with the grand opening of Alpha Pet Stop at 1000 North 12 Street. The event began with a heartfelt ribbon-cutting ceremony, emphasizing the importance of community support and dreams come true.
Owner Brandon Carrasquillo, visibly moved by the occasion, shared his journey to bring Alpha Pet Stop to life. Speaking to a small group in front of the store, Carrasquillo recounted a nearly two-year endeavor to make the pet shop a reality. He expressed his deep gratitude to his family and friends who stood by his side throughout the challenging journey.
“The thing is a lot of people stay focused on that destination and they forget to realize the journey is what you have to cherish,” Carrasquillo reflected. He went on to recount the memories of his loved ones contributing to the shop’s creation, from uncles helping with the flooring to his father’s unwavering support after long workdays. His family, including his mother, wife, and children, played pivotal roles in preparing the store for its grand opening.
Carrasquillo also had an inspiring message for the youth of Reading and beyond. He encouraged them to pursue their dreams relentlessly, no matter how impossible they may seem. He emphasized that anything is possible with hard work and determination, even in the face of risk.
“I was asked why open a pet shop in Reading, my answer is why not,” Carrasquillo said, explaining that his decision was rooted in giving back to the community he grew up in. He recognized the significance of Alpha Pet Stop being the only pet store in Reading, and he didn’t want to see the building be transform into something else. Now, Carrasquillo can offer his community a place to care for their pets conveniently.
The emotional connection to this store runs deep for Carrasquillo. He recounted his childhood memories of visiting the shop, where a kind lady once gifted him a flea comb. Last year, when he discovered that the owner of the store was planning to close it, he approached her and requested to take it over. With her blessing, Carrasquillo acquired the building and transformed that childhood memory into Alpha Pet Stop.
Mayor Eddie Moran also shared his excitement for the new pet shop, emphasizing the challenges pet owners face when trying to find supplies for their beloved animals. He recognized the commendable addition of a pet shop to the City of Reading, stating, “We need grocery stores, barbershops, but to have a pet shop is cool.”
Alpha Pet Stop aims to be a one-stop destination for all pet needs, offering a diverse range of pet products to ensure the health and happiness of pets. In addition to their comprehensive selection of supplies, the store offers professional pet grooming services, ensuring pets look and feel their best. If the grooming schedule is full, Alpha Pet Stop has made provisions to accommodate pets at their other location in Kenhorst, ensuring convenience for their customers.
With its grand opening, Alpha Pet Stop has officially opened its doors to the community, providing a place where pet owners can find all they need for their furry family members. Carrasquillo’s inspiring journey and dedication to his community have resulted in a pet shop that is sure to become a cherished asset in Reading.
