Searching for the perfect place for fun and entertainment? Look no further than The Art Room, an eclectic new space located at 633 Penn Avenue in West Reading.
Created by Brian Adams and Catherine Jeffords, The Art Room was born out of a shared desire to create a new kind of entertainment for locals–a space that encouraged creativity, diversity, and collaboration with other local businesses in West Reading.
“We have partnerships with the surrounding businesses,” said Adams. “[Visitors] can come to do art and express themselves, [all while] ordering food and drinks from local businesses!”
“[Brian, while living in West Reading Borough himself] decided during the pandemic that [creating The Art Room] would be a great opportunity to meet an unmet need–to provide entertainment [on Penn Avenue] outside of dining and shopping,” added both Adams and Jeffords.
According to Adams, The Art Room is an a-la-carte, modern art studio. “You can do whatever you desire doing for the day,” he said, noting that visitors can choose different types of mediums on which to paint (ceramic, wood, stepping stones, or canvas).
The Art Room also offers clay making, wine glass painting, and wooden boxes and birdhouses to decorate. Both Adams and Jeffords emphasized that the space is BYOB, which makes it an ideal location for many events
Adams shared that their ceramic pieces are hand-poured by an artisan in Denver, PA, and that they range in size from quarter-sized pieces to a four-foot-tall garden fairy. “We have lots of different specialty pieces, and there’s a story behind everything,” he said. No matter the size of the piece chosen, Adams and Jeffords have worked hard to ensure that everything at The Art Room is competitively priced.
Additionally, The Art Room offers outdoor classes in their oasis-like backyard every other weekend. Upcoming classes include wine glass painting, succulents, paint your favorite planet, pour and paint, and a special Mother’s Day vase painting event, where every attendee also gets flowers for their moms to put in their hand painted vases.
Both Adams and Jeffords are grateful to own a business in West Reading, a location where the revitalization efforts of dedicated individuals have transformed it into a must-see area of Berks County. “West Reading is the best place on the planet,” said Adams. “Everyone supports everyone else.”
