Visions Federal Credit Union made a donation of $3,000 to the Reading Hospital Foundation Tuesday afternoon to help fund the foundations Mobile Mammography Coach project.
The presentation was held in front of the iconic Reading Hospital Clock Tower on South 6th Street in West Reading. The donation was made to the foundation by the Visions Cares initiative of the credit union.
The foundation is looking to raise 2 Million for the Mobile Mammography Coach.
“There are a lot of women out there who aren’t able to get a Mammogram due to access to care, including those who struggle with transportation” said Kate Thornton, President of the Reading Hospital Foundation.
“We want to take the Mobile Mammography Coach to where they live, whether that’s the city of Reading or out in the County. We want to ensure every woman can get one if they need it.”
Thornton says the foundation began raising funds in October of 2020, and hopes to celebrate with a dedication ceremony when they are finished.
“If the last year has taught us anything, it’s that people need healthcare,” said Lizette Epps, Visions’ Director of Impact and Engagement, who was on site to present the donation. “This donation will help the Reading Hospital Foundation help others and we’re proud to play our part in that.”
“It’s been a rewarding experience and partners like Visions make it possible with their support” said Thornton.
