Centro Hispano‘s 2024 Amigo Award to be presented to Chris Kraras

Centro Hispano has announced that Chris Kraras will be honored as the 2024 Amigo Award recipient. The award will be presented at the Amigo Award Gala to be held on June 21st at the Redner’s Event Center, First Energy Stadium.

According to Centro Hispano President and CEO, Mike Toledo, “Chris is being honored because of his unwavering dedication to Greater Reading. His commitment to our community is exemplified by his tireless efforts to assist the Centro Hispano in successfully securing new headquarters for our delivery of safety net programs and services.”

The honoree is Chairman of the Board of his family-owned group tour businesses, White Star Tours and White Star Travel Centers. His lifelong community service has been recognized by numerous organizations and institutions including Albright College, Berks Encore, Boy Scouts of America, the Salvation Army, and the Caron Foundation.

He has received the Thun Award for a lifetime of civic service in Berks County and the Doran Award of the United Way. His decades of service to his church, Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Reading, has earned him the honor of being named a Church Archon by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of the Greek Orthodox Church.

Mr. Kraras stated the following in response to being the recipient of this award, “The Centro Hispano organization has a very soft spot in my heart, and I have enjoyed working alongside Mike Toledo and so many other committed people over the years. Centro Hispano is a pillar of our community. It uses its position and resources to serve people in incredible ways, always responding to changing needs while continuing essential services to tens of thousands of people each year.”
