In recognition of National Foster Care Month, CHOR YFS Foster Care is inviting the community to a special event aimed at honoring foster families and encouraging others to get involved. The “Together We Foster” Meet and Greet Brunch will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Crossroads Family Restaurant, located at 4643 Pottsville Pike in Reading.
The brunch will bring together current foster families, CHOR staff, and local organizations for a morning of shared stories, information, and connection. The event is designed for both those already involved in foster care and individuals who may be considering becoming foster or respite care parents. Attendees will hear firsthand experiences from foster families, learn about local support resources, and discover how to take the first step toward becoming a foster parent or advocate.
With more than 13,000 children in Pennsylvania needing safe and supportive foster homes each year, CHOR YFS is using this opportunity to highlight the growing need and the positive impact of fostering. Adults over 21 from across the state are encouraged to attend the event to explore how they can make a difference in the lives of children.
Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Jen Horrocks by May 9 by calling 610-655-5555 or emailing JHorrocks@choreading.org.
For those unable to attend the brunch, more information about CHOR YFS Foster Care and how to get involved is available at buildingkidslives.org.
