Christmas Tree lighting illuminates cold evening in downtown Reading

Downtown Reading sparkled with festive lights as the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony brought the community together during a chilly Tuesday night.

The event, held at the corner of 5th and Penn Streets, featured a diverse program that catered to every member of the family. The enchanting sounds of the Reading High School Choir and the Reading Vocal Society echoed through the air, complemented by a delightful performance from the Olivet Boys & Girls Club.

As the majestic Christmas tree lit up, symbolizing the commencement of the holiday season, the community enjoyed special messages from local leaders, fostering a sense of unity and shared joy.

“We would all like to wish you a Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad. One thing to remember, the tree and the gifts that come along with the season are wonderful, but the true gift is to remember the people around you, especially your neighbors” said Chris Miller, City Council District 6.
