City of Reading adjusts trash and recycling pick-up schedule due to high temperatures

Due to forecasted temperatures in the mid-90s and Heat Advisory and Excessive Heat Watch in effect for the week of June 17th through June 21st, the City of Reading will begin trash and recycling pick-ups one hour earlier than usual.

This adjustment aims to protect staff from excessive heat and prevent heat-related illnesses or injuries.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Tuesday, with heat index values expected to reach up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. The advisory is in effect from 10:00 AM Tuesday through 6:00 AM Wednesday morning. Additionally, an Excessive Heat Watch has been declared for the remainder of the week, with dangerous heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees anticipated from Wednesday morning through Saturday evening.
