City of Reading invites community to Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony

Update: Due to the forecasted rain Tuesday, November 21, the city has rescheduled the Christmas Tree Lighting event to Tuesday, November 28, 6:00pm.

Original post: The City of Reading has announced details for the upcoming Lighting of the Christmas Tree ceremony, set to take place on Tuesday, November 21st, at 6:00pm. The festive event will be held at the southeast corner of 5th & Penn Street, promising a delightful evening for the entire community.

Mayor Morán expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “As the holiday season draws near, it is important for us to come together to illuminate our community with the radiant spirit of joy and togetherness. This year’s tree lighting event promises special performances that will light the festive magic within us all. I invite everyone to join me as we begin a holiday season filled with warmth, goodwill, and shared happiness.”

The event boasts a diverse program with something for every family member to enjoy. Attendees can look forward to enchanting vocal performances by the Reading High School Choir and the Reading Vocal Society. The Olivet Boys & Girls Club will grace the occasion with a captivating dance performance. Local organizations and small businesses will offer delightful treats, and special messages from community leaders will add a personal touch to the festivities.

For the convenience of event-goers, the Reading Parking Authority has made two parking lots available at no cost from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on the day of the event. These lots include the 5th & Cherry Parking Lot and the 4th & Cherry Parking Lot.
