County Seeking Applicants for 911 Telecommunicator Position

Berks County Department of Emergency Services is currently recruiting candidates for the position of 9-1-1 Telecommunicator.

Candidates should have experience working as part of a team in a high-stress environment, be technology savvy, have good typing and listening skills, and be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

No direct experience is required. Emergency service experience is desirable but not required. Good knowledge of Berks County roads, geography, and political sub-divisions is very beneficial.

According to a county job post, the position is well-compensated with opportunities for advancement and salary growth.

After training, employees are assigned to a regular platoon rotation of 12-hour shifts where they have off 7 days in every 14. Incentive pay is offered for those able to pass a Spanish fluency test.

A recruit class will be hired with a planned start date of January 6, 2021.
