18-year-old succumbs to gunshot wound after Tuesday evening shooting in Reading

Update: Teen charged as adult with first-degree murder in Amity St. homicide case

Original post: The Reading Police Department is investigating a shooting that claimed the life of an 18-year-old man. The incident occurred Tuesday, September 12th, just before 5pm, in the 1100 block of Amity Street, just outside of the 11th and Pike Playground property.

According to police, the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed at this time, was engaged in a struggle with two individuals when he sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The assailants quickly fled the scene, leaving the victim in critical condition.

EMS promptly arrived at the scene and rushed the wounded young man to Reading Hospital. Tragically, despite their best efforts, the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

As the investigation into the incident unfolds, law enforcement officials are actively seeking information from witnesses and the community to identify and apprehend the two individuals responsible.
