A Reading man was arrested on October 23, 2024, following a drug investigation that led to the seizure of firearms and illegal substances, announced the Berks County District Attorney’s Office Thursday.
The Berks County Drug Task Force conducted a drug investigation at a residence in the 1500 block of Perkiomen Avenue in the City of Reading. The investigation began in August of 2024. As a result of the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the 2nd floor rear apartment and a white Buick Regal owned by the suspect Allah Jamal Johnson. The search warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Dean Patton.
Detectives served the search warrant on October 23, 2024, at approximately 3:20 PM. Johnson was secured outside his residence. A search was conducted, and the following evidentiary items were seized:
One Smith and Wesson 9mm caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number. One Rossi .257 caliber pistol. Amounts of suspected fentanyl, synthetic cannabinoids, and cocaine. Numerous items of drug paraphernalia including a scale and packaging material.
Johnson was arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Greth and was committed to Berks County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Johnson faces multiple charges, including possession of synthetic cannabinoids, cocaine, and fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of being a person not permitted to possess firearms.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
This is an ongoing investigation.
