A 38-year-old Cincinnati, Ohio, man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly arranging to meet someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl at a park in Reading, according to the Reading Police Department.
Police said Luis Rivera arranged to meet the girl at Pendora Park for the purpose of sexual contact. The person Rivera had been communicating with was an undercover officer posing as a minor, police said.
Rivera arrived at the park at approximately 8:05 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, and communicated with the undercover officer, telling her he had arrived, according to police.
Members of the department’s Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division then took Rivera into custody without incident.
Rivera was charged with unlawful contact with a minor and related offenses. Police said he was awaiting arraignment.
Criminal charges are accusations, and Rivera is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
