46-year-old Harrison Adu Boakye has been charged with murder following the death of a 33-year old Winifred P. Boakyein of Fleetwood, announced the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
On July 7, 2023, at approximately 8:25am, the Fleetwood Police Department was dispatched to a 911 call regarding a domestic situation at 30 Middletown Rd., Fleetwood, PA. Upon arrival, officers located the unresponsive victim inside the residence. Life saving measures were initiated by responding officers and EMS personnel but failed. The coroner was contacted and subsequently pronounced the female victim deceased.
An investigation conducted by the Berks County Detectives revealed that the defendant engaged in a physical altercation with the victim inside the master bathroom of their Richmond Township residence.
On July 10, 2023, an autopsy was conducted at the Tower Health Reading Hospital. The victim’s death was ruled a homicide and was determined to have been caused by manual strangulation.
On July 12, 2023, the defendant was charged with Murder of the First Degree, Murder of the Third Degree, Aggravated Assault, Strangulation, and Simple Assault. A warrant of arrest was issued for the defendant by Magisterial District Judge Gail M. Greth.
The defendant, who is currently incarcerated in the Berks County Jail, is expected to be arraigned on these charges at a later time.
