The Reading Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that took place near the intersection of Oley and Mulberry Streets Wednesday night, September 4, 2024.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Mulberry Street following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found 21-year-old Ismael Ortiz-Rodriguez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts, Ortiz-Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released any information regarding potential suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing. At this time, police have stated there is no known threat to public safety.
