Update – 5/14/25: Via Reading Police – On 5/10/2025 at approximately 7:30pm, officers received a report of a shooting. Two victims suffering from gunshot wounds were located at the hospital. Currently their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening. The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.

Original post: Police and EMS responded to multiple reports of gunshot victims Saturday evening in West Reading and Wyomissing, but details remain limited.
At approximately 7:04 p.m., a 911 call was dispatched referencing a reported shooting near the Sunoco at 5th and Penn Avenue in West Reading. The caller, who was not on scene, reported a 17-year-old male had been shot in the leg. Officers responded to the area but found no evidence of a shooting, and the location was later marked unfounded. After clearing the scene, it was reported that minutes earlier a person arrived at Reading Hospital with a gunshot wound.
A short time later at 7:23 p.m., a gunshot victim arrived at the Tower Health Urgent Care in Wyomissing. Police and EMS responded, and the individual was transported via ambulance to Reading Hospital.
According to West Reading Police, the shooting did not occur in their borough. They confirmed that the individual injured in the incident was transported in a personal vehicle from the City of Reading and passed through the area of 5th and Penn en route to the hospital.
While initial dispatches suggested the possibility of a second victim, only one gunshot victim is confirmed at this time.
