A Harrisburg man has been charged with multiple counts of sexual offenses involving two juvenile victims following an investigation by Berks County authorities.
Kemish A. Soto-Munet, 29, of Harrisburg, was arrested on January 27, 2025, at his workplace in Dauphin County. He was later transported to Berks County, where he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Carissa L. Johnson. Soto-Munet’s bail was set at $200,000, and he remains incarcerated at the Berks County Jail.
According to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office, the investigation began in June 2024 when detectives received a Childline Referral from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, which alleged that the defendant had sexually abused a young boy. Based on the foregoing, a criminal investigation was initiated by the Berks County Detectives.
The criminal investigation identified at least two juvenile males who were sexually abused by the defendant. In August of 2024, both juveniles were forensically interviewed at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center, Reading, PA. During these forensic interviews, Victim #1 indicated that the defendant had sexually abused him when he was approximately 12 years of age. Victim #2 disclosed that he was also sexually abused by the defendant when he was approximately 14 years of age. Both victims indicated that this abuse took place within a residence located in the 900 block of Weiser Street in Reading City.
Continued investigation into these allegations of sexual abuse, revealed that family members had discovered a hidden “pen camera” that was surreptitiously mounted within a bathroom of the residence. After being discovered, the camera was turned over to the police. Berks County Detectives obtained a search warrant to examine the video files contained within this recording device. This search revealed videos of both victims, as well as videos of an additional adult family member, all depicting them using this bathroom.
On Monday, January 27, 2025, the defendant was charged with multiple counts of Rape, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Assault, Statutory Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Sexual Abuse of Children, Invasion of Privacy, and Corruption of Minors. A warrant of arrest was issued for the defendant by Magisterial District Judge Alvin Robinson.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
