Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains found in a wooded area off Route 176 in Cumru Township.
According to a joint statement released by the Berks County District Attorney’s Office and the Cumru Township Police Department, officers responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, after receiving a report of possible human remains near the stretch between the Green Hills and Route 724 exits.
Investigators confirmed the remains are human and believed to be that of a female. The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting it had been at the location for a significant period of time. A comprehensive grid search was conducted by Berks County Detectives and Cumru Township Police to locate and collect all potential evidence.
The remains and other collected materials have been transported for further analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
