Man arrested after 6 mile police chase ending on Penn Street Bridge

A PIT maneuver stopped a suspect wanted for terroristic threats Saturday afternoon on the Penn Street Bridge, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

On April 1, 2023 around 1pm, State Police were requested to assist Muhlenberg Township Police with a pursuit where the operator of the vehicle was wanted for terroristic threats after allegedly pointing an orange tipped gun at people.

According to State Police, Troopers took lead in the pursuit, which continued through West Reading Borough and totaled a distance of 6 miles.

Due to the erratic manner of driving, Troopers conducted a PIT maneuver on the the Penn Street Bridge to stop the vehicle from entering the City of Reading. The vehicle subsequently crashed at the top of the off ramp of 422 east.

Police say a physical struggle ensued to overcome the operator’s physical resistance. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Anthony Teed, was transported to Reading Hospital for medical evaluation, and later transported to Berks County Central Booking.

Teed faces multiple charges, including for recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats w/ intent to terrorize another, and resisting arrest.
