A man faces multiple charges after police say he entered vehicles at Hollywood Casino Morgantown, fled officers in a stolen vehicle and crashed into two properties before being apprehended following a search Saturday.
Caernarvon Township Police said officers responded around 1:18 a.m. Aug. 15 to a report of someone entering vehicles at Hollywood Casino, 6021 Morgantown Road.
According to police, casino staff reported that two employee vehicles had been entered and several personal belongings were stolen, including two wallets, $100, a gym bag and a basketball.
Corporal William Smith and Officer William Kase located a silver sedan believed to be connected to the incident as it fled the area, police said. Officers pursued the vehicle until it crashed into two properties at 3160 and 3146 Main Street.
Police later said on social media that one of the properties struck was Nuse’s Deli.
The driver fled the crash on foot, prompting a search of the surrounding area. Police identified the suspect as Terrance Watson.
Authorities said assistance from the public later led officers to the area of Twin Valley Road and Elverson Road following a report of a suspicious person. Officers Sam Frank and Thomas Brecker and Chief Paul Stolz requested additional units, with officers from the Robeson Township and Exeter Township police departments assisting in the search.
Watson was subsequently located and taken into custody. In a social media post accompanying video of the arrest, Caernarvon Township Police said Watson was escorted from a wooded area in handcuffs and past a neighborhood gathering before being taken to waiting police vehicles.
“We’d like to thank the residents for their patience while officers temporarily turned a few yards, trails, and party surroundings into part of the world’s least-planned police foot pursuit course,” the department wrote.
During the investigation, police determined the silver sedan had previously been reported stolen in Philadelphia.
Watson faces charges including receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, evading arrest, disorderly conduct and fleeing or attempting to elude police. He also faces several traffic-related charges.
Police records list bail at $75,000 following Watson’s arraignment Aug. 15.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
