The Berks County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that Jonathan E. Rodriguez, 39-years-old, of Morgantown is facing multiple counts of Rape, Statutory Sexual Assault, and related charges, following a child sexual abuse investigation.
In March of 2025, the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives received a Childline Referral from the Department of Human Services, Commonwealth of PA, which alleged that the defendant had sexually abused a young female over a period of several years. Based on the foregoing, a criminal investigation was initiated by the Berks County Detectives.
On March 21, 2025, the victim, now an adult, was interviewed by detectives. She disclosed that the defendant began sexually abusing her when she was approximately fourteen years of age. This abuse occurred in both Chester County, as well as at a residence located in Caernarvon Township, Berks County.
Continued investigation into these allegations, revealed that after the allegations came to light, a family member had confronted the defendant. During this confrontation, the defendant apologized for what he had done and indicated that he has been seeking forgiveness from God.
On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the defendant was charged with multiple counts of Rape, Statutory Sexual Assault, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Corruption of Minors, Endangering the Welfare of Children, Indecent Assault, and Indecent Exposure. A warrant of arrest was issued for the defendant by Magisterial District Judge Michael D. Kaufman.
On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the defendant surrendered to members of the Berks County Detectives. The defendant was transported to the Central Processing Center located at the Berks County Courthouse where he will be fingerprinted and photographed. Bail information is currently unavailable.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
