According to investigators, Perez Polanco fled to New Jersey after the shooting and booked a flight to the Dominican Republic that was scheduled to depart Sunday evening.

Police said a coordinated effort involving the U.S. Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations, the Transportation Security Administration, the Berks County District Attorney’s Office, and the Port Authority Police Department of New York and New Jersey led to Perez Polanco’s arrest while he was waiting to board the flight.

Perez Polanco is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania, where he will face a charge of first-degree murder.

As with all criminal cases, Perez Polanco is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
