Playground program equipment stolen from South Heidelberg park, police seeking public’s help

The South Heidelberg Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help after equipment used for the township’s summer playground program was stolen from Hummel/South Mountain Park.

According to police, the theft occurred sometime during the overnight hours between June 24 and June 25 at the park, located at 809 Hill Road in South Heidelberg Township.

Investigators said two large tarps were taken from the park grounds. The tarps are used by the township as part of its summer playground program.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about the theft, knows the whereabouts of the tarps, or can help identify the person or people responsible to come forward.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the South Heidelberg Township Police Department at 610-670-9885 or 610-655-4911. Tips may also be submitted anonymously through Crime Alert Berks, which offers cash rewards for information that directly leads to an arrest in the case.

The investigation remains active under reference number 45-26-02486. Police said no additional information has been released at this time.
