Gregory Borges, 60, of Reading, has been arrested and charged following a comprehensive drug trafficking investigation spearheaded by the Berks County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force.
In May of 2024, the Berks County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force initiated an investigation and identified Gregory Borges as an individual who was selling Fentanyl pills in the City of Reading. Several purchases of Fentanyl were made by law enforcement at his place of business, which is located at 921 Penn Street, Reading. Investigators say he was selling this lethal product and storing it at this location.
On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, the Berks County Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant for the controlled substances and related paraphernalia at his business, it was signed by Magisterial District Judge Dean Patton.
On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 11:48 AM, Gregory Borges was observed arriving and parking in the rear of 921 Penn Street where he was subsequently taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of Cocaine.
On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 11:50 AM, the Berks County Drug Task Force served the search warrant. As a result of the search, the following items were found and seized: 163 suspected Fentanyl pills, 40 grams of suspected Cocaine, $520.00 in U.S. Currency, (1) H&R Young American .22 revolver, (1) Star 9mm semi-auto handgun, 865 grams of suspected Marijuana, 426 grams of Synthetic Cannabinoids, Packaging materials and related drug paraphernalia.
The total street value of the illegal drugs was estimated to be over $7000.00.
The defendant was transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Department Central Processing Center where he was charged and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge F. Richard Drumheller; bail was set at $150,000. The investigation is ongoing.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant, Gregory Borges, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
