In a daring turn of events, Reading Police received a report on Monday night, June 5, at 10:12pm for the robbery of a vehicle by four males. Swift action by officers led to the discovery of the stolen vehicle, occupied by the suspects, the following morning.
At approximately 2:30am on June 6, Reading Patrol Officers spotted the stolen vehicle with the four male occupants. However, when officers attempted to initiate a stop, the suspects evaded capture, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit. The four males abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled on foot, sparking a manhunt by law enforcement.
Engaging in a search, Reading Police Officers successfully located and apprehended two of the suspects. However, the remaining two individuals managed to evade capture and are currently at large. Authorities are urging members of the public with any information to come forward and assist in their apprehension.
During the course of their criminal activities subsequent to the car theft, police say the four males were involved in several other crimes. However, the specific nature of the crimes were not disclosed by the authorities.
During the foot pursuit, a tense situation escalated when one of the suspects fired a shot while being pursued by officers. No injuries were reported, and law enforcement swiftly took the armed suspect into custody. Another suspect was also located and successfully apprehended.
