The Reading Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating a shooting and attempted robbery that took place in the early hours of Saturday, January 4, 2025.
At approximately 5:20 a.m., police were alerted when a man arrived at Reading Hospital with a gunshot wound. According to the victim, he was walking near the intersection of 9th Street and Spring Street when an unidentified man approached him, brandishing a firearm, and attempted to rob him.
The victim recounted that he tried to disarm the suspect during the confrontation, during which he was shot. Despite his injuries, the victim managed to flee the scene and sought treatment for what authorities described as a non-life-threatening wound.
Police say both the victim and the suspect fled the scene following the altercation, and the suspect remains unidentified. Investigators are working to gather additional details and evidence, but no further information is available at this time.
