Update: July 12, 2024 – Josue Rivera-Reyes of Reading, PA was taken into custody in connection with the robberies. Mayor Eddie Morán expressed his gratitude, stating, “Thank you to our Chief and Deputy Chief for their leadership and to the officers and criminal investigators for their hard work in identifying and apprehending this dangerous offender.”
Original post: The Reading Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect following two attempted robberies at local credit unions on July 8, 2024.
On July 8th, 2024, at approximately 12:15pm, officers responded to Visions Federal Credit Union located at 35 N 6th St. for the report of a 911 hangup. Upon arrival Officer’s learned that a male had entered the credit union and approached a teller’s window, and stated that he had a firearm, demanding money.
Shortly afterward, the Reading Police received a report of a suspicious male at Pagoda Federal Credit Union. Upon arrival, officers determined that the same individual involved in the robbery at Visions Federal Credit Union had attempted to commit a robbery at Pagoda Credit Union as well.
The suspect was identified by officers as Josue Rivera-Reyes. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, and the Reading Police Department is seeking information regarding his whereabouts.
