Reading Police seek public’s help locating armed and dangerous kidnapping suspect

Update: Reading Police announced Sunday morning that Yusuf Scott was arrested in Texas by the Amarillo City Police Deportment. Additional details were not immediately available.

Original post: The Reading Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is seeking assistance from the public in locating Yusuf Scott, a 27-year-old black male, following a bur incident that unfolded in the early hours of Thursday, November 16, 2023.

At around 03:30am, officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 400 block of Windsor Street in Northwest Reading. According to police, the caller informed authorities that their 26-year-old daughter had been kidnapped after an intruder broke into their home.

Fortunately, the victim managed to escape from the suspect, who has been identified as Yusuf Scott, who is now wanted on charges of kidnapping, burglary, and related crimes.

BCERT surrounds a house in the 1600 block of Cotton Street Thursday afternoon.

Despite efforts by the Reading Police Department and BCERT (Berks County Emergency Response Team) to execute search warrants at various locations within the City of Reading, Scott remains at large.

Police say he is considered armed and dangerous because he displayed a gun during the incident.

He is described as a black male with longer dreadlocks, standing at 6’3” and weighing approximately 175 pounds, last seen wearing black pants, black shoes, a black jacket and a mask.
