A 32-year-old man from Shillington is facing multiple counts of rape, along with related charges, the Berks County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday afternoon.
The investigation began on Friday, April 12, 2024, when Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives received a Childline Referral from the Department of Human Services, Commonwealth of PA, which reported that a 15-year-old female and a 17-year-old female had been sexually abused by the defendant, identified by authorities as Janson G. Paz-Ochoa.
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, a Forensic Interview was conducted with the 15-year-old victim at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center, Reading, PA. During this Forensic Interview, the victim disclosed that the defendant had sexually abused her when she was between 11 and 12 years of age. The victim reported that this sexual abuse occurred at a private residence located in City of Reading.
Also on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, a Forensic Interview was conducted with 17-year-old victim at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center, Reading, PA. During this Forensic Interview, victim #2 disclosed that the defendant had sexually abused her when she was approximately 14 years of age. According to victim #2, this abuse also occurred at the same private residence located in the City of Reading.
During this investigation, detectives also uncovered text messages between the defendant and victim #2. Investigators discovered that the defendant had sent a photograph of his genitalia to victim #2 and requested the same from her.
On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the Defendant was charged with multiple counts of Rape, Rape of a Child, Unlawful Contact with a Minor, Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure, and Corruption of Minors.
On Thursday, August 27, 2024, the Defendant was taken into custody by members the Berks County Sheriff’s Department. The Defendant was transported to the Central Processing Center locatedat the Berks County Courthouse where he was fingerprinted and photographed.
On Friday, August 28, 2024, the Defendant was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Alvin B. Robinson. The Defendant’s bail was set at $250,000 and he was committed to the Berks County Jail.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
