Shooting incident at bar in Tilden Township leaves two injured

An incident at Pappy T’s Pub and Lounge, located at 50 Industrial Drive, escalated into a shooting in the early hours of Sunday, November 12, 2023, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The Pennsylvania State Police responded to the call at approximately 1:09 AM.

According to the investigation, Thomas J. Fronina, a 37-year-old resident of Leesport, removed a .380 caliber pistol from his pocket to show another patron in the establishment.

At that time, a single round was discharged toward the floor, striking a 43-year-old female in the lower leg. Additionally, a 45-year-old male from Orwigsburg sustained a minor injury from a bullet fragment.

Emergency medical services responded and promptly transported the female victim to Reading Hospital for treatment, where she was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the incident, Fronina faces multiple charges, including assault, recklessly endangering another person, and discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure.

The Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg continues its investigation into the matter.

Pappy T’s Pub and Lounge posted a statement on social media Sunday afternoon: “There was an incident late last night here at Pappy T’s that involved a patron and an accidental discharge of a weapon. This was a careless incident by an individual that should have never occurred. We have signs posted on both doors that weapons are not allowed inside the pub. We took immediate action and are working with the police. There is no threat to the public and want to stress that this was an isolated incident. We at Pappy T’s care about our customers safety and wish the victim a speedy recovery.“
