A 31-year-old man from Reading was arrested Wednesday evening following a vehicle and foot pursuit that began on Skyline Drive and ended in the city, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers from the Reading Patrol Unit reported that around 7:15 p.m. on May 7, they observed two mopeds operating erratically near the Pagoda. One of the mopeds, which displayed a fraudulent plate and lacked valid records, fled at unsafe speeds when troopers attempted a traffic stop.
A short pursuit followed into the City of Reading from Skyline Drive. The moped operator abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot down the mountain, according to police. Troopers chased the suspect and used a taser to subdue and apprehend him without further incident.
Police said the suspect admitted to fleeing due to a suspended license and an outstanding warrant. He was found to be operating an uninsured moped with an improper registration plate and no insurance.
Neither the suspect nor troopers were injured during the incident. The man, who was not identified in the public information report, was processed at Berks Central and is facing multiple charges.
