State Police investigating animal cruelty incident after puppy found in garbage bag

Pennsylvania State Police, Troop L Reading, are asking for the public’s help with an animal cruelty investigation in Alsace Township.

According to police, at approximately 5:05pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, an unknown person threw a garbage bag containing a puppy over the hill on Eisenhauer Drive.

Witnesses on scene described the person as a white male wearing a baseball cap standing at approximately 6’0” tall. The person was driving a maroon/burgundy colored pickup truck with a bed cap. The pickup truck had a silver stripe on the side. The make/model of the truck is currently unknown.

The puppy was located on scene and transported to Animal Rescue League for treatment.

State Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
