Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a reported theft and attempted assault that occurred the night of June 11 in Womelsdorf Borough.
Troopers from the Reading Patrol Unit responded around 10:34 p.m. to a residence near West High Street and Mulberry Alley for a report of a break-in involving three unidentified males. According to the police report, the men arrived at a shed behind the property where a 32-year-old man was working on his motorcycle.
The suspects arrived in a dark-colored pickup truck and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, parking in a gravel lot near the shed. Two of the men exited their vehicles and allegedly chased the victim into the yard while wielding a pole. A third suspect remained near the shed during the incident.
A second victim, who was inside the residence at the time, heard the commotion and went outside, prompting the two men to stop the chase and flee. All three suspects then left the area in the vehicles, traveling in an unknown direction.
Police say the male victim described the assailants as two tall, skinny white men—one of whom had a goatee—and a third man who was short and heavyset. All were reportedly wearing cutoff shirts. No additional identifying details were provided.
Following the incident, the victim discovered that a welder valued at approximately $400 was missing from the shed. The equipment belonged to a second victim, a 32-year-old woman, but neither she nor the male victim could provide specific identifying details about the item.
A third victim, a 60-year-old woman, also resides at the property but was not reported injured.
