Suspects charged with homicide in downtown Reading double shooting

The Reading Police Department announced Tuesday that they have arrested and charged two men in the connection to the double shooting that happened Sunday, June 18th, around 1:15am in the 300 block of Penn Street.

According to investigators, the shooting involved 2 male victims, one 29-years-old and the other 32-years-old. Both were in a car driving west in the block when their vehicle was fired upon.

The 29-year-old fell out of the vehicle and was located in the 400 block of Penn Street. He had an injury to his head and a gunshot to his right arm.

The 30-year-old victim had a vehicle accident at the intersection of 5th and Penn Streets and was located with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police identified two suspects Tuesday as 24-year-old Kevin Irizzarry-DeMarco and 32-year-old John Roman. Both were taken into custody by members of the Berks County Emergency Response Team (BCERT) on the morning of June 19th.

In addition, police also announced Tuesday that on the evening of June 19th, both of the victims died of their injuries at the hospital. Investigators have amended the charges to Homicide for both suspects.
