Teen charged as adult with first-degree murder in Amity St. homicide case

The Reading Police Department has announced a major development in the investigation into the death of 18-year-old Dominic Amsbaugh following a shooting that took place on September 12th, in the 1100 block of Amity Street in Reading.

After days of tracking down leads, investigators have identified a 16-year-old male as the primary suspect in the case.

In the early morning hours Friday, police located the suspect in the 1100 block of Scott Street. In a swift and coordinated response, members of the Reading Police Department and the Berks County Emergency Response Team converged on the area. Police say he voluntarily surrendered himself without incident.

Despite the suspect’s juvenile status, authorities have charged him as an adult with first and third-degree murder, in addition to other related charges.
