Wyomissing Police warn of phone scam calls claiming to be from department

The Wyomissing Police Department is warning the public of a phone scam where people are receiving phone calls claiming to be from a representative of the Wyomissing Police Department.

Police say the voice sounds computer generated and makes references to a subpoena and safety of a family member.

“If you should receive a call like this, it is a scam of some sort. If you were to be contacted by someone from the wyomissing police department, the voice would be that of a human and not a computer, we would not ask for money to not arrest you, or ask you to pay a fine with gift cards” says a statement from the department.

Anyone who receives a call is advised to contact your local police department to advise them and call Wyomissing Police Department at 610-375-6102.
