According to Dayspring Homes, there were four residents inside sleeping and one staff member on duty. Fortunately, the staff reacted without hesitation and was able to get all four residents safely out of the home. The organization says all Dayspring staff are required to take fire safety training and perform fire drills regularly in the unfortunate event something like this will happen.

“Unfortunately, the Harry Avenue home is burnt to the ground. All 4 residents’ personal items, furniture, clothing, sentimental items, are all gone. The silver lining is that everyone is alive and safe. Had the staff not reacted in a timely manner, this might have not been the case. We have secured temporary placement for all 4 residents at other Dayspring residential homes. Our next steps are rebuilding, trying to help them with any personal trauma related to the fire, and, in addition, getting them all the necessary personal items needed” said the organization in a press release Friday.

To support the residents who have lost everything in the fire, the organization has launched a landing page for those in the community who wish to help financially. In addition, in-kind donations such as clothing, house supplies, furniture etc. is also greatly appreciated. https://dayspring-homes-inc.square.site/
