District takes swift action after Snapchat threat against Reading High School identified

In a rapid response to a concerning Snapchat threat involving violence against Reading High School, The Reading School District announced Wednesday morning their Safe School Officers have successfully identified the student responsible.

The District says the Reading Police Department has been contacted, who will complete an investigation. The District says they will administer appropriate disciplinary action per the Code of Conduct.

In a statement addressing the incident, the Reading School District expressed its commitment to ensuring the safety of students and staff. “The District takes threats like these very seriously and will always take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of our students. We understand the anxiety a situation like this causes for our families, students, staff, and community. Please know that our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We take any and all reports of potential threats seriously, and we are making every effort to maintain an environment where students and staff feel safe.”

The Reading School District encourages its students and school community members to remain vigilant and report any potential threats to school safety. Anonymous tips related to school safety concerns can be submitted through Safe2SayPA.org or by calling 1-844-723-2729.
